A good team is the one that has extensive experience, plus they're obsessed with a particular problem. I've had success in backing a few founders who had actual expertise in addressing certain problems at their schools and nobody in the market had a solution, so they decided to come up with a solution themselves. They're often coupled with somebody who's a very good technologist, a very thoughtful product person.

They also need an elite software architect, somebody that can be thoughtful about product design as well as with its use cases. What such teams are often lacking is somebody that has a good sense of marketing and sales and a good sense for distribution. If they have somebody who's innovating around how to go to market, that's an instance plus to me.
